PrestaShop 1.6.x. How to get rid of “newsletter required error” upon customer account registration

Sometimes, while creating a new customer account in PrestaShop, you may face the “Newsletter is required error” which does not allow to save the account without checking the Newsletter field:

In this tutorial we will show you how to deal with this error.

To get rid of the error, follow these steps:

1. Log into your PrestaShop admin panel.

2. Navigate to Customers-> Customers section:

   

3. Click the “+Set required fields for this section” option:

   

4. Un-check the “Newsletter” option and press the “Save” button to apply your change:

   

5. Refresh the page on site front end and check the newly created account.
